Ode to the High School Students  
on the First Day of School

Up too late the night before.

You want to stay in bed some more.
Your summer break’s officially done.
You’re tired from having too much fun.
Now you’re in a hurry a lot. 
So very little time you’ve got.
You grab your books and everything.
That stupid bell begins to ring.
The teacher asks you why you’re late.
It’s time for you to contemplate.
You fumble for a smart reply.
“I just don’t know” is what you cry.
You find the lessons really boring.
Is that really you who started snoring?

Well, that’s your high-school situation...
